The last family session I did included a wardrobe change involving the family’s favorite baseball attire. Brilliant? I thought so—I love brilliant clients! These are some of the fun images we captured. It seemed like the kids had fun playing and posing out on the baseball field and fun is always my number one priority!

I had the fun job of photographing these handsome little guys recently. These are a few of my favorite pictures—and as with little boys, most were taken while they were playing!
So often I have moms asking me what their children should wear for a session. I try to encourage them to choose outfits that are expressive of their children’s personalities. Sure nice neutral colors work well for big groups, but I think bright and fun goes a lot further in making your pictures more memorable. My goal as a photographer is to find a neutral background so that your child can really stand out. Colorful and playful outfits make that happen, too.
Plus I think kids just have more fun when they are wearing crazy clothes!
Look how bright her outfit looks in comparison with the background….a pink bucket hat and obnoxiously over-sized galoshes say a lot more about my fun-loving five-year-old than a white t-shirt and denim pants would have.
Patterns seem like a no-no, but they can be fun and not as distracting as one would think.
Doesn’t she have the most beautiful eyes? What a cutie and by far the most compliant and well behaved two-year-old I’ve photographed (and yes, I’m including my own in that comparison)!

A few years ago my friend asked me to photograph her family. I have been blessed to be able to get together with them each year and take new family pictures. The kids grow and change so much, but it is when I take their pictures and begin editing them that I realize how much they have changed. This beautiful young lady is a prime example! I spent last weekend in Brainerd photographing two families. The first family I took pictures of lives in a beautiful new home on a cool old farmstead. It made for fun photography! Here are some of pictures from the day:
Perhaps because I am the mother of two little girls, I admit that I am a bit partial to photo sessions with little girls, especially when their mother has fun clothes and accessories for them to wear!
I enjoyed this smiley 5 year old, who wasn’t a bit camera shy. She was so easy to work with!
There is just something I love about this picture…maybe simply the fact that I “caught” it when she was paying attention to me (those are usually my favorites!).
Although they were itchy, she was willing to wrap up in the feather boas for a couple of minutes, at least!
And here is the baby sister who is three months. She has changed since I took her picture as a newborn but as adorable as ever!
