The last family session I did included a wardrobe change involving the family’s favorite baseball attire. Brilliant? I thought so—I love brilliant clients! These are some of the fun images we captured. It seemed like the kids had fun playing and posing out on the baseball field and fun is always my number one priority!

What Not to Wear–Children’s Photography Edition

So often I have moms asking me what their children should wear for a session. I try to encourage them to choose outfits that are expressive of their children’s personalities. Sure nice neutral colors work well for big groups, but I think bright and fun goes a lot further in making your pictures more memorable. My goal as a photographer is to find a neutral background so that your child can really stand out. Colorful and playful outfits make that happen, too.

Plus I think kids just have more fun when they are wearing crazy clothes!

Look how bright her outfit looks in comparison with the background….a pink bucket hat and obnoxiously over-sized galoshes say a lot more about my fun-loving five-year-old than a white t-shirt and denim pants would have.

Patterns seem like a no-no, but they can be fun and not as distracting as one would think.

Doesn’t she have the most beautiful eyes? What a cutie and by far the most compliant and well behaved two-year-old I’ve photographed (and yes, I’m including my own in that comparison)!

With her big brother–I can’t help it, I LOVE this picture!

We took pictures in a local church–look at how sweet these two were, sitting patiently in the aisle, looking at hymnals:

And then we braved the cold for a few minutes to get a couple more pictures.

A. had a formal dance the same day as pictures, so we were able to get some pictures in his suit, too.
